PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO

Media Consent Notice

Hear We Go sometimes uses photographs, videos and personal stories to create awareness, recognise supporters and raise funds for people requiring hearing support.

Why we use photographs and videos

Photographs, videos and personal stories help Hear We Go:

  • Raise awareness about hearing health and hearing loss
  • Demonstrate the impact of the organisation’s work
  • Thank sponsors, donors and healthcare partners
  • Support fundraising initiatives
  • Encourage others to seek or support hearing care
  • Share positive and dignified stories of people whose lives have been affected by improved access to hearing

The existing consent form specifically allows content to be used for awareness, sponsor recognition and fundraising.

Where media may be used

With your consent, photographs and videos may be used or shared through:

  • The Hear We Go website
  • Social-media platforms
  • Digital campaigns
  • Printed brochures and publications
  • Posters, banners and event materials
  • Presentations and reports
  • Media publications
  • Sponsor and partner communications
  • Fundraising and awareness campaigns

Hear We Go’s existing form expressly covers brochures, banners, websites, social platforms, print publications and sharing with sponsors and healthcare partners.

Respect and dignity

Hear We Go is committed to ensuring that all photographs, videos and stories are:

  • Respectful
  • Positive
  • Accurate
  • Appropriate to the context
  • Used in a way that protects the dignity of the person shown

We will not intentionally disclose sensitive personal information alongside an image unless separate permission has been obtained.

Consent involving children

Where the person appearing in photographs or videos is under 18 years old, media consent must be provided by their parent or legal guardian.

Providing media consent does not affect the assessment of a support application.

An applicant may decline media consent and may still apply for assistance.

Voluntary consent

Media consent is entirely voluntary.

By giving consent, you authorise Hear We Go to:

  • Take photographs or videos of you or your child
  • Use those photographs or videos for the purposes described above
  • Share approved media with sponsors, healthcare partners, media organisations and the public
  • Edit or format the media where reasonably necessary for publication, provided it remains respectful and does not misrepresent the person shown

Withdrawing consent

You may withdraw your media consent at any time by contacting Hear We Go in writing at:

Email: info@hearwego.co.za

Hear We Go will take reasonable steps to stop using the media in future publications after receiving the withdrawal request.

Withdrawal may not always allow Hear We Go to recall material that has already been printed, published, shared or distributed. The current form already gives recipients the right to withdraw consent in writing.
